Guisi Lighthouse

The Faro de Punta Luzaran located in Barangay Dolores, Guimaras was built in 1894 during the Spanish Colonial Era. It is the second oldest lighthouse in the Philippines (second to Cagayan). It served to navigate and guide seafarers during the golden days until an adjacent new modern lighthouse was built. It was made of steel that stood the test of time. An epitome of Colonial progression in the Island of Guimaras. The local barangay took over the Ruins of the Guisi Lighthouse since 2013 from the municipality. They've taken the task to maintain and preserve the Ruins as one of the tourist destinations in the Island and impart to visitors their prized history.  So, it's time to pack your bags and go for an epic adventure.

How to get there? Whichever point you are, you must reach for Iloilo City unless you're from Bacolod. Go to Iloilo Parola, it is the new Iloilo-Guimaras terminal (not in Ortiz near Central Market) in Fort San Pedro. Line in a queue for the trip going to Jordan (php 14), first trip starts as early as 5am. Its a 15 minute boat ride. From the Jordan port walk outside for public jeepneys (or you could rent for a hassle free trip at the information center also located at the port, prices are standardized). Take the Pandaraonan, Nueva Valencia (php 40) jeepney for a 45 minutes road trip. Jeepneys are available 6 am to 2 pm only.Be conscious of your time. They'll drop you off at the motorcycle stop going to the lighthouse (php 40 each one way). The motorcycle driver will take you directly to the lighthouse. You could tell them to wait for you or arrange to be fetched if you're on an overnight stay in one of the three resorts. The ride is a little bumpy since it's solid ground for about 15 minutes. You walk up for 3 minutes (along the way you can see a shortcut going directly to the beach) and register to pay php 20 for the entrance fee. You can climb the tower but be really careful. What are you waiting for? Tara na!
