Iloilo's Chinese New Year


Last February 8, 2016 the Philippines celebrated it's Chinese New Year. Filipinos and the Chinese community had been friends since the old days. The bond between cultures had earned it's respect in the country. So, to commemorate this friendship every Chinese New Year is considered a national Holiday.


A few days ago, the Iloilo Chinese Cultural Community held its annual celebration in Metro Iloilo. It closed main roads in downtown Iloilo to celebrate the rich culture of the Filipino-Chinese community. The celebration took place in Iznart Street, closing other roads such as Delgado, JM Basa, De Leon Streets and detoured local and private vehicles giving way to the event.

Cultural festivities were displayed during the event performed by different Chinese Schools and local community. Dragon and Lion dances took placed and the grand finale showing casing a world class fireworks display that everyone enjoyed. The night was spent away with cultural performances, merry making in the company of friends and families. Kung Hei Fat Choi!!
